Part I - Introduction
3.1 - Forms Generally
There are official forms that must be used to:
- Appear as a practitioner of record. See Chapter 5.3 (Entering an Appearance as the Practitioner of Record)
- Disclose document assistance through limited appearance. See Chapter 5.5 (Limited Appearance for Document Assistance)
- Report a change of address. See Chapter 5.1(b)-(c) (Address Obligations)
- Request most kinds of relief. See 8 C.F.R. parts 299, 1299
- File an appeal. See Part III, Chapters 3 (Appeals of Immigration Judge Decisions), 8 (Visa Petitions), 9 (Fines)
- Request a fee waiver on appeal or motion. See Part II, Chapter 2.4(d); Part III, Chapter 2.4 (Filing Fees)
There is an official form that should be used to:
- File a practitioner or recognized organization complaint. See Chapter 8.5 (Complaints)
There is no official form to:
- File a motion. See Part II, Chapter 4 (Motions before the Immigration Court); Part III, Chapter 4.2(b) (Form)
- File a Freedom of Information Request (FOIA) request or a Records Request. See Chapter 6 (Records Requests)
