1087. Federal Crime of Violence

Section 373 encompasses only solicitations of Federal felonies. See S. Rep. No. 98-225, 98th Cong., 2d Sess. 308 (1984), reprinted in 1984 U.S. Code Cong. & Adm. News 3182, 3487 (stating that the solicitation statute "is designed to proscribe the offense of solicitation to commit a Federal crime of violence"); United States v. Korab, 893 F.2d 212, 215 (9th Cir. 1989). It is not necessary to prove that the Federal crime of violence was committed, but rather that the defendant intended that acts constituting a Federal offense result. Id.
